1. Our weight is a function of our health. We don't lose weight to get
healthy; we get healthy to lose weight.
2. Do not slip into a dieting mentality - obsessing over the scale and ignoring
an intelligent way of living.
3. When we treat the body well, the body gets well.
4. The body adapts - for better or for worse – to those conditions that are
unrelenting.
5. Each person loses weight at their own rate based upon many variables.
6. It's not "how much" weight you lose each interval, it's "that" you lose
weight (no matter how much or how little) consistently
7. Weight loss does not keep weight off. A lifestyle keeps weight off.
8. Do not adjust your appointment to fit your performance. Adjust your
performance to fit your appointment.
9. When off-track, which is quite normal from time to time, shorten the
interval between your appointments (accountability) - do not lengthen them.
10. Any negative episode – whether a bad meal, a bad day, a bad week, etc.
– can be redefined by what you do next.
11. Don't be discouraged or overwhelmed by the amount of work you need
to do. Time goes by anyway. Spend it making progress.
12. Avoid quick fixes and gimmicks! The shortest distance between two
points is the truth - align yourself with it.
13. Once truth is conceived, the rest is a mere formality.
14. You must have a "why" before you have a "how".
15. A “how” without a “why” is a journey without a destination.
16. Your purpose must be stronger than any temptation.
17. Keep your eye on the prize, not the pies!
18. Willpower is temporary at best. Use knowledge to change your desires,
rather than muscle to control them.
19. Provide the body with the proper conditions and leave the rest to its
natural tendency to heal.
20. Stop treating the symptoms of an unhealthy lifestyle and start building
health with a healthy lifestyle.
21. If you engage your intellect, it will protect you.
22. If you would like to live intelligently, do not consult your emotions.
Rather, allow them to express how smart you are.
23. My actions are my prayers.
24. Where there are conflicting values, there is paralysis.
25. It’s not how far or close you are to disaster; it’s in which direction you’re
facing.
26. Know where the finish line is, but keep your eyes on each hairpin turn
that gets you there.
27. If you do not hold your own success in your imagination, you probably
will not invest the necessary time and energy it takes to succeed.
28. Every goal comes with a specific course of action. That course of action
is a restriction. It restricts you from not achieving your goal.
29. Going off track is not the problem; not getting back on as fast as
possible, is.
30. There’s not much to avoid - just the first bite.
31. Stack one day on top of another until you reach the moon.
32. No circumstance justifies self-betrayal.
33. Intellect is uniquely human, but not automatically so. We must
engage it.
34. When it is in our self-interest to serve others, we all win. When it is
not, we all lose.
35. If you can’t take it or leave it – leave it.
36. Respect for animal life begins with respect for human life, as genuine
compassion for others can only exist where it is preceded by rational
and shameless self-interest.
37. The truth conflicts only with what is false.
38. It’s not - “All things in moderation; it’s - “All good things in
moderation”.
39. Feel the regret of a wrong action before taking it.
40. When you choose what you choose, you also choose its
consequences.
41. Don’t lament over the work to be done; time goes by anyway.
42. If you can’t stop, don’t start
43. Don’t fool yourself. You won’t do better tomorrow until you do
better today.
44. Your physician’s job is to diagnose and treat you. Your job is to give
him nothing to diagnose and treat.
45. Long-term goals are fantasies, easily avoided or excused from.
Short- term goals are realistic and obligatory.
46. The moment you’re about to quit is the moment you’re about to
succeed.
47. Put your effort into making “now” good. Don’t waste your time
worrying about ”then”.
48. Good thoughts lead to good actions.
49. Eating processed food is like watering your lawn with dust.
50. Your actions will follow your thoughts, so keep your thoughts in
the right place.
51. You’ve got to change inside before you change outside.
52. Purpose gives you leverage that can move mountains.
53. Imagine Superman addicted to kryptonite.
54. Try less, do more!
55. When indulging in junk food, you can never eat to the point of
satisfaction - only to the point of regret.
56. Keep your eye on the prize, not on the clock and not on the scale.
57. Don’t worry about tomorrow. Worry about today, do what’s right
and tomorrow you’ll be a different person.
58. Let your plan shape your day, not your day shape your plan.
59. Life has boundaries. Learn where they are to be happy and
healthy.
60. Don’t eat it and regret it. Regret it and don’t eat it.
61. The pain of regret is much stronger than the pain of abstinence.
62. Don’t lose patience before the water boils.
